Department of Education and Science - North East Regional Office
The Department of Education & Science Regional Office for the North Eastern region is located at Government Offices, Kilcarn, Navan, Co Meath and is responsible for the counties of Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan.
The regional offices are primarily designed to make the Department more accessible to the public and will be staffed by a small team of five department officials. Other agencies that operate under the aegis of the Department of Education & Science will be based in the Regional Office buildings. At present the Navan Office accommodates the Education Welfare Board, the National Educational Psychological Service Agency (NEPS), the Inspectorate of the Department and Special Education Needs Organisers from the newly established National Council for Special Education.
The Regional Office is open to the public from 10.00am to 12.45pm and 2.00pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and provides a point of contact for information and advice on issues relating to education services available in the region. The Regional Office is an additional resource to the region and not a replacement for any existing service.
The Regional Office facilitates a two-way information flow between the educational users in the region and the Department of Education & Science, as well as promoting networking between the different educational partners within the region. Staff from the Regional Office represent the Department on the regions County Development Boards, the North Eastern Regional Drug Task Force and on various associated sub-groups as well as engaging with agencies working in the region in relation to existing policies and planning of future needs.
