Cooperation Ireland All Island Pride of Place
Co-operation Ireland is the leading peace-building charity working in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. They work with groups from all religious and cultural communities to build vibrant societies based on the principles of respect for diversity and peace and reconciliation.
Each year Co-Operation Ireland run an all island competition which is similar to our own local Pride of Place competition.
The All Island Pride of Place judging will take place July 20th & 21st 2011. The competition aims to recognise and acknowledge the important work undertaken by community and voluntary groups in their communities.
There are four groups representing Meath in 2011, Oldcastle, Dunshaughlin, Causey Farm and Boyne Fishermans Rescue and Recovery Service.
The competition is a joint initiative between Co-Operation Ireland and the Local Authorities in all of the 32 counties.
In addition to meeting the groups and volunteers on the ground, the judges are keen to meet Members and Staff of the Local Authorities to get a sense of how they work together to benefit the area.
Below is a schedule of the visits the judges will make. It would be great if you could attend an event in your area or if you could encourage other staff members to attend to show their support.
Wednesday 20th July - Causey Farm and Oldcastle
Thursday 21st July - Boyne Fisherman's Rescue and Recovery Service and Dunshaughlin
