DRAFT REGISTER OF ELECTORS 2012/2013
Every year, a new Register of Electors is prepared. You have until November 25th to make sure that you are registered to vote.
ELECTORS ARE ADVISED TO CHECK THE DRAFT REGISTER TO ENSURE THAT THEIR DETAILS ARE REGISTERED CORRECTLY.
It is especially important to check that you are registered if you have changed address recently, if you will reach your 18th birthday by 15th February 2012 or your Nationality Status has changed. The Draft Register is currently available for checking.
If you have a physical disability and you wish to vote from home, you should apply to go on the Postal Voters’ List or are living in a Hospital, Nursing Home or similar institution, you should apply to go on the Special Voters’ List. You can also vote by post if you are likely to be unable to vote in person at your polling station because of the circumstances of your occupation, service or employment.
Forms for registration are available at the Council Offices or can be downloaded from www.meath.ie. Completed forms must be received in Corporate Services, Meath County Council, County Hall, Navan on or before November 25th 2011.
The Draft Register may be checked at:
- County Hall, Railway Street, Navan.
- Council Area Offices, Libraries, Post Offices, Garda Stations, Courthouse.

The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government is responsible for the various legislative codes dealing with the registration of electors and the conduct of elections and referenda. Meath County Council is responsible for the capture of information, quality control, publication and distribution of the Register of Electors.
In order to vote in an election in Ireland, you must be registered to vote. Being registered to vote means that you can participate in decision making about who represents you at local government level, national government level and European government level. Being registered to vote also means that you can get involved in decisions about how Ireland is governed by voting in elections and referenda.
