The Irish Whale & Dolphin Group (IWDG)

The Irish Whale & Dolphin Group (IWDG) was established in 1990 to establish an Irish stranding and sightings scheme and to campaign for the declaration of Irish territorial waters as a whale and dolphin sanctuary. One year later, in June 1991, the Irish Government declared all Irish waters to be a whale and dolphin sanctuary , the first of it’s kind in Europe.

The IWDG keep a database of sightings of dolphins, porpoises and whales. To find out what sightings have been recorded in your area, visit http://www.iwdg.ie/iscope/sightings/
