Report on Irish Landscape Conference 2009
The Heritage Council has recently published a draft report on the conference entitled "People and their Place"
The main issues identified from the conference and subsequent feedback are:
1. Co-operation
2. Research
3. Stakeholder Participation
4. Communication, Training and Public Awareness
5. Legislation and Policy Issues
6. Landscape Management
The public are invited to make comments up to March 12th 2010 at www.heritagecouncil.ie
Heritage Council Grant Awards 2010
The Heritage Council under its 2010 Grant Scheme allocated under the following categories; (i) Heritage Management, (ii) Heritage Research and (iii) Education and Community and Outreach have been awarded funding to three projects focusing on the Tara Landscape.
The heritage and landscape of the Hill of Tara -- audio guide
€5,000 (Mary Mulvihill)
Feis Teamhra 2010
€1,000 (Susan McKeown)
A palaeoenvironmental resource assessment for the Tara region
€10,000 (Stephen Davis, School of Archaeology UCD)
M3 publication - December 2009
The first finding of the M3, edited by Mary Deevy and Donald Murphy, which focused on 8 of the major archaeological sites along the route of the M3 from Dunboyne to Navan have been published by the National Roads Authority. Tara Symposium – October 2009
On Friday October 23rd 2009 in advance of the start of the Tara Symposium approximately 50 visiting scholars and archeologists visited the Tara Landscape.
National Landscape Strategy Steering Group – September 2009
In September 2009 the Project Officer gave a presentation on the Tara Skryne Landscape Project to the National Landscape Strategy Steering Group at the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Custom House in Dublin.
