Kileen Castle is a unique development set in the historic grounds of one of Ireland's oldest and finest 12th century Norman castles. Located near the picturesque village of Dunsany just north of Dunshaughlan, the spectaclar 600 acre estate is home to Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, Europe's Only Dave Pelz Scoring Game School Kileen Castle offers all the joys of true country living with easy access to the city, being only twenty five minutes frm both Dublin City Centre and International Airport.

Guests can connect with nature and enjoy the rich texture of sound and colour in our woodlands walks. The Dawn walk brings you along the Rock River before joining up with the Loop Walk, a total journey of three and a half miles, lakes teeming with brown and rainbow trout.

All of the greens and tees have been seeded and drained to USGA performance specification and the greens feature a unique blend of grasses, inspired by Augusta - the same blend used in Jack's own course in Muirfield, Ohio in the US. In a testimony to the quality of the course Killeen Castle has already been selected to host The 2011 Solheim Cup between Europe and the United States.

Set in natural woodlands and parklands of almost 350 acres, more than twice the average size of a Championship course, water features prominently in nine of the 18 holes. In keeping with the Nicklaus philosophy of working with the natural landscape rather than against it, the course features stunning stonework which was quarried from the site and hand-tooled by expert craftsmen. Complimenting this exceptional golf course is the impressive 30,000 sq feet clubhouse with state-of-the-art locker rooms, on-site physiotherapy, fine dining in the restaurant and casual dining in the bar areas.

Dave Pelz Scoring Game School

Killeen Castle is also home to the first Dave Pelz Scoring Game School to be opened outside the US. Dave Pelz, a former NASA scientist who has coached many of the world’s top players including Phil Mickelson, has teamed up with Killeen Castle to bring his expertise as the world’s top rated short game coach to Ireland.

The School opened in July 2008 on 11 acres with USPGA standard greens, bunkers, aprons and hitting areas designed by Pelz to simulate championship golf conditions has been an outstanding success attracting golfers from Ireland and Europe. One-day clinics; two and three-day schools focus on all aspects of the short game.

Dave Pelz defines the Scoring Game as a combination of all shots played inside 100 yards of the green, encompassing distance wedge shots, pitching, chipping, sand play and putting, which comprise 60 to 65% of the total number of shots played per round. His research shows that 80% of the shots golfers lose to par occur inside 100yds from the hole and his school in Killeen Castle, Co Meath is the only one in Europe. The spectacular six hundred acre estate is home to a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course; Europe’s only Dave Pelz Scoring Game School, fishing lakes and woodland walks and is soon to be complemented by a luxury hotel and spa. Prior to your round you can warm up at our long game facility or on the practice greens in front of the clubhouse.
